What is Hand Therapy

Hand Therapy  is the art and science of rehabilitation of the Upper Limb.  It involves evaluation and testing to assess the injured limb and design of a specific treatment program.   A variety of treatment techniques can be used.   It helps patients regain maximum use of the hand/upper limb after an injury, surgery or onset of a disease. The treatment is provided by a hand therapist – someone who is first trained as an Occupational Therapist or Physiotherapist and then receives additional training in Hand Therapy.
